Anti-Lock Brake System: Operation

An ABS indicator light, located in the instrument cluster, comes on for 3 seconds as a bulb test when ignition is first turned on. Under normal driving conditions, ABS functions like a standard brake system. Upon detection of wheel lock-up, short pedal pulsations will occur. Pedal pulsation will continue until there is no longer a need for ABS function.

CAUTION: See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS in this article.
