Continuity Testing

  1. Remove clutch start cancel switch from dash. Using an ohmmeter, ensure continuity does not exist between switch connector terminals No. 1 (negative lead) and 2 (positive lead). See Fig 1. Replace switch if continuity is present.
  2. Check for continuity between switch connector terminals No. 1 and 3 and between terminals No. 2 and 3. See Fig 1. If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, replace switch.
  3. Connect battery voltage to switch connector terminals No. 3 (positive) and 1 (negative). See Fig 1. Using an ohmmeter, ensure that no continuity is present between switch connector terminals No. 1 and 2. Replace switch if continuity is present.
  4. With battery still connected and ohmmeter still connected between terminals No. 1 and 2, press switch button. See Fig 1. Continuity should be present. If continuity is not present when switch button is pressed, replace switch.
  5. Disconnect battery positive lead. Continuity should not be present between terminals No. 1 and 2. Replace switch if continuity is still present.
