Pressure Check

  1. Install hose, "T" fitting and pressure gauge in the hose to the actuator. On M/T models, accelerate vehicle with throttle valve fully open in 3rd gear. Note turbo pressure with engine RPM greater than 2500 RPM.
  2. On A/T models, drive vehicle from standing start with transmission in "L" with throttle valve fully open. Note turbo pressure with engine RPM greater than 3500 RPM.
  3. On all models, turbo pressure should be within specification. See TURBO PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS table. If turbo pressure is less than specification, check intake air and exhaust systems for leaks.
  4. If no leaks exist, replace turbocharger. If turbo pressure exceeds specification, check actuator hose for leaks or cracks. If no leaks or cracks exist, replace turbocharger.
