Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rails: Installation

  1. Install NEW grommet to each injector. Apply a light coat of gasoline to NEW "O" ring and install onto injector. Install injectors to fuel rail by turning injector from left to right while pushing inward until injector is bottomed securely into fuel rail.
  2. Install 4 NEW injector insulators and 2 fuel rail mounting spacers into positions on cylinder head. Install the 2 mounting spacers with plastic end toward fuel rail. Install fuel rail/injectors assembly into position on cylinder head. Snug tighten mounting bolts holding fuel rail to cylinder head.
  3. Ensure injectors rotate smoothly side-to-side, and check each injector electrical connector is position upward, facing camshaft cover. If injectors DO NOT rotate smoothly, remove injector and replace damaged "O" rings. When injectors do rotate smoothly, tighten 2 fuel rail mounting bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 N.m).
  4. Install air intake chamber support bracket and tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (17 N.m). Connect wiring harness, protector and accelerator cable bracket. Connect fuel return hose to fuel rail.
  5. Connect fuel inlet pipe to fuel rail and tighten union bolt to 22 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). Connect vacuum hoses and PCV hose. Connect battery. After installation complete, turn ignition on and check for fuel leaks.
