Fuel Injectors & Fuel Rails: Installation

  1. Install NEW grommets onto injectors. Apply a light coat of gasoline to NEW "O" rings and install onto injectors. Install injectors into fuel rail by applying steady pressure and turning/twisting injectors from left to right until injector is bottomed in rail.
  2. Place injector insulators in position on cylinder head. Install Black rings on upper portion of each mounting spacer. Install mounting spacers to fuel rail mounting hole positions on cylinder head.
  3. Place fuel rail with attached injectors in position on cylinder head. Ensure injectors rotate smoothly. If injectors do not rotate smoothly, remove and check for incorrect installation of "O" rings.
  4. Position injector electrical connector facing upward. Install and tighten fuel rail mounting bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (18 N.m). To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts and lock nuts to specification. See appropriate TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article.
