Ignition Switch & Circuit Test: Supra
- Remove driver's lower instrument panel cover. Remove upper and lower steering column covers if needed. Locate ignition switch wiring harness connector (10-cavity connector)
- Using test light, backprobe White wire terminal of ignition switch wiring harness connector. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for blown White main fusible link (2.0L) near battery and check 2 large amperage fuses (100-amp ALT and 40-amp AM1) in engine compartment fuse/relay block. If fusible link and fuses are okay, check for open in White wire from 40-amp AM1 fuse to ignition switch. Repair as required.
- Using test light, backprobe Black/White wire terminal of ignition switch wiring harness connector. Turn ignition switch to START position. If test light does not glow, replace ignition switch. On Canada models with A/T, if test light glows check Black/White wire circuit to neutral start switch for open or short. Repair as required. On all other models, if test light glows check Black/White wire circuit to starter relay for open or short. Repair as required. Check starter relay. See STARTER RELAY TEST .
