Ignition Switch & Circuit Test: Previa
- Remove driver's lower instrument panel cover. Remove upper and lower steering column covers if needed. Locate ignition switch wiring harness connector (10-cavity connector).
- Using test light, backprobe White wire terminal of ignition switch wiring harness connector. If test light glows, go to next step. If test light does not glow, check for blown fusible links (100-amp ALT and 50-amp AM1) in fusible link box located next to battery. If fusible links are okay, check for open in White wire from 50-amp AM1 fusible link to ignition switch. Repair as required.
- Using test light, backprobe Black/White wire terminal of ignition switch wiring harness connector. Turn ignition switch to START position. If test light does not glow, replace ignition switch. If vehicle is equipped with theft deterrent system, go to next step. If test light glows and vehicle is NOT equipped with theft deterrent system, check Black/White wire circuit to neutral start switch for open or short. Repair as required.
- If vehicle is equipped with theft deterrent system, check Black/White wire circuit to 7.5-amp ST fuse in center dash fuse/relay panel. If test light glows at fuse terminals, check Black/White wire to neutral start switch (A/T) and/or to starter relay. Check starter relay. See STARTER RELAY TEST . If M/T equipped, check clutch start switch. Repair as required.
