ABS Control Relay

  1. Remove ABS control relay. See Figure. Using ohmmeter, ensure continuity exists between 6-pin ABS control relay connector terminals No. 4 and 3. See Figure-16. Reverse ohmmeter leads. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals No. 3 and 4. If ABS control relay tests as specified, go to next step. If ABS control relay does not test as specified, replace ABS control relay.
  2. Ensure continuity exists between 6-pin ABS control relay connector terminals No. 3 and 5, and between terminals No. 3 and 6. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace ABS control relay.
  3. Ensure continuity exists between 6-pin ABS control relay connectors terminals No. 4 and 5, and between terminals No. 4 and 6. Reverse ohmmeter leads. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals No. 5 and 4, and terminals No. 6 and 4. If ABS control relay tests as specified, go to next step. If ABS control relay does not test as specified, replace ABS control relay.
  4. Ensure continuity exists between 6-pin ABS control relay connector terminals No. 5 and 6. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace ABS control relay.
  5. Using a 12-volt battery, apply battery positive terminal to 4-pin ABS control relay connector terminal No. 4. Apply battery negative terminal to 4-pin ABS control relay connector terminal No. 3. Ensure continuity is present between 4-pin relay connector terminals No. 1 and 2.
  6. If continuity is not as specified, replace ABS control relay. If continuity readings are as specified, apply battery positive terminal to 6-pin relay connector terminal No. 1. Apply battery negative terminal to 6-pin relay connector terminal No. 3.
  7. Ensure continuity exists between relay terminals No. 2 and 5. If continuity does not exist, replace ABS control relay. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  8. Using a 12-volt battery, apply battery positive terminal to 6-pin ABS control relay connector terminal No. 1. Apply negative battery terminal to 6-pin ABS control relay connector terminal No. 3. Ensure continuity exists between relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity exists, replace ABS control relay. If continuity does not exist, ABS control relay is okay.
