No-Load Test

Connect ammeter in series with starter motor and 12-volt battery and observe readings. See Fig 1. Starter should spin smoothly with the pinion out. Ensure starter draw is less than maximum specification. See NO-LOAD TEST SPECIFICATIONS  table. Replace starter if not within specification.
