Anti-Lock Brake System: Description
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) consists of 4 speed sensors, ABS computer and ABS actuator assembly. See Figure. Front and rear wheel speed sensors are used to detect wheel speed. ABS computer receives signals from speed sensors to calculates acceleration, deceleration and slip values.
ABS computer sends signals to the actuator to control brake fluid pressure to each disc brake caliper. An ABS indicator light is used to alert driver when trouble occurs in system. ABS indicator light comes on for 3 seconds as a bulb test when ignition is turned on.
