Corolla & Pickup

  1. Check system with cold engine. On Corolla, ensure coolant temperature is less than 122°F (50°C).
  2. For Pickup, ensure coolant temperature is less than 131°F (55°C). On all models, remove air cleaner. Start engine. Pinch AAP vacuum hose and stop engine. See Figure.
  3. Release AAP vacuum hose. Check that gasoline sprays out of accelerator pump nozzle. Repeat procedure with engine at operating temperature.
  4. With engine at operating temperature, check that gasoline does not spray out of accelerator pump nozzle. If AAP system does not function as described, proceed to AAP DIAPHRAGM TESTING.
