Vacuum Switches: Pickup

  1. To test vacuum switch No. 1, connect an ohmmeter between vacuum switch terminals. Ohmmeter should not indicate continuity. Apply 3.54 in. Hg of vacuum to vacuum switch. Check continuity between switch terminals. Ohmmeter should indicate continuity.
  2. To test vacuum switch No. 2, connect ohmmeter between vacuum switch terminals and ensure continuity exists between switch terminals. Apply 16.93 in. Hg vacuum to vacuum switch. Ohmmeter should now indicate infinity (no continuity) between vacuum switch terminals. See Fig 3.
