DECEL Fuel-Cut Preliminary Inspection: Pickup

  1. On Federal models with High Altitude Compensation (HAC) system, disconnect vacuum hose from lower port of HAC valve and plug hose end.
  2. On all models, Connect tachometer to engine. Start engine and check that engine idles properly. Pinch off vacuum hose to vacuum switch. Gradually increase engine speed to 3000 RPM. Engine should misfire slightly between 1800-3000 RPM.
  3. Release pinched vacuum switch hose and increase engine speed to 3000 RPM. Engine operation should return to normal. Reduce engine speed to idle. Disconnect wiring connector to solenoid valve.
  4. Check that engine idles rough or stalls. If system fails to operate as specified, inspect individual system components. Inspect fuel-cut solenoid valve and vacuum switch.
