Choke Breaker Preliminary Inspection: Corolla
- Check Thermostatic Vacuum Switching Valve (TVSV) operation with cold engine. Cool TVSV to less than 45°F (7°C).
- Start engine. Disconnect vacum hose from choke breaker diaphragm "B". Check that choke linkage does not move. Reconnect vacuum hose to diaphragm "B".
- Check choke breaker restrictor and diaphragm "A" operation. Disconnect vacuum hose from choke breaker diaphragm "A". Check that choke linkage moves.
- Reconnect vacuum hose to diaphragm "A". Check that choke linkage moves within 1-5 seconds after reconnecting hose. Check TVSV and diaphragm "B" operation. Warm engine to operating temperature.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from diaphragm "B". Check that choke linkage returns. Reconnect vacuum hose to diaphragm "B".
- If choke breaker does not function as described, inspect each individual component for proper operation. Inspect restrictor, choke breaker diaphragms and Thermostatic Vacuum Switching Valve (TVSV).
