Deceleration Sensor Operation Diagnosis System
NOTE:
While checking the deceleration sensor operation diagnosis system, the ABS does not work. The brake system works as a normal brake system.
- Inspect that the battery is about 12 volts.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check that the "REAR ANTI-LOCK" warning light turns on for about 2 seconds. See Figure. If not, inspect and repair or replace the fuse, bulb and wiring harness.
- Check that the "REAR ANTI-LOCK" warning light turns off.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Connect the terminal Tc to E1 of the check connector. Connect the terminal Ts to E1 of the check connector. See Fig 3.
- Pull the parking brake lever all the way. This will turn on the parking brake switch.
- While depressing the brake pedal, start the engine.
- Check that the warning light blinks about 1 time every 1 second when 2.5 seconds after the engine is started. See Fig 1.
- If the warning light shows the diagnostic codes, inspect and repair or replace the trouble parts, then clear the diagnostic codes and inspect this diagnosis system again.
- If the warning light does not blink, inspect the parking brake switch, check connector, deceleration sensor installation and ECU.
- Release the parking brake lever and drive the vehicle straight ahead at about 20 km/h (12.4 MPH) or more. Depress the brake pedal strongly.
- Check that the warning light pattern changes after braking. See . If the operation is not as specified, inspect the deceleration sensor installation. If the sensor installation is OK, replace the deceleration sensor.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- If you don't inspect the Speed Sensor Diagnosis System after this inspection, disconnect the terminal Tc and Ts from the terminal E1 of the check connector.
NOTE:
Check connector is located in the right side of the engine compartment, attached to the fuse/relay box.
NOTE:
If the engine is started without depressing the brake pedal, this inspection changes to inspection of SPEED SENSOR DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM function.
