Description & Operation
System consists of a frame mounted rack and pinion assembly, a flow control valve, hydraulic pump and high pressure hoses. Flow control valve regulates hydraulic pressure in proportion to steering effort.
An air control valve is used to increase idle speed when heavy loads exist on the belt-driven vane-type power steering pump. Pump components include an engine-driven eccentric rotor with vane plates, an eccentric cam ring, and a flow control valve that regulates amount of oil flow and maximum oil pressure.
