INTERCOOLER Coolant System Check (CELICA Turbo)

  1. Intercooler coolant reservoir should be filled up to bottom of filler neck. There should be no rust or scale deposits. There should be no oil deposits.
  2. If necessary, drain and replace coolant. Drain plug is located on bottom of intercooler radiator. Use a 50-50 mix of water and ethylene-glycol coolant. To bleed system, turn ignition on with engine off. Open throttle valve which causes coolant pump to operate. Refill with coolant, if necessary.
NOTE: If the coolant level drops too low, coolant level switch will turn coolant pump off.
  3. Start engine and accelerate a few times to 3000 RPM. Stop engine and recheck coolant level. If necessary, check intercooler system for leaks with radiator pressure tester. Refer to the INTERCOOLER COOLANT PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
