Power Steering Pump

Pickup and 4Runner power steering pump combines an engine-driven rotor with vane plates, an eccentric cam ring and a flow control valve.

Land Cruiser power steering pump components include an engine-driven eccentric rotor, a fixed ring having 6 slotted grooves with 6 vane plates and a flow control valve to regulate maximum oil pressure and amount of oil flow.

Vane plates (fitted in each slotted groove) are pressed against rotor or cam ring surface by pressure produced in adjoining slots (or by spring tension). As rotor rotates, space between the rotor and ring changes, which produces oil pressure.
