ISSUE & TIP

The engine can be removed from 1986 and later Toyota four wheel drive trucks without removing the transmission, using the following procedure:

Remove the front driveshaft.
Remove the three bolts holding the front differential to the frame.
Lower the front differential, allowing it to hang by the front drive axles.
This should give you enough clearance for the oil pan to remove the engine.
