Checking Total Preload

Install side bearing caps and tighten bolts to 36 ft. lbs. (49 N.m). Apply gear oil on bearings. Using Pinion Holder (09556-16010), turn drive pinion left and right several times. Using pinion holder and torque wrench, measure total preload. Total preload should be 2.6-4.3 INCH lbs. (.3-.5 N.m) in addition to drive pinion preload.
