Checking Gear Tooth Contact Pattern

Inspect tooth contact between ring gear and drive pinion. See Fig 1. If necessary, select a drive pinion thrust washer that will give proper tooth contact pattern. See GEAR TOOTH CONTACT PATTERNS article in GENERAL INFORMATION section. Thrust washers are available from 1.50-1.95 mm in .03 mm increments.
