ACTUATOR CIRCUIT TEST (Van)

  1. Turn ignition off. Check actuator for continuity between terminals 1 and 6. Check for 2 ohms between terminals 3 and 4. Check for continuity between actuator terminal 5 and body ground. Check actuator operation if any of the above tests fail. See ACTUATOR OPERATION.
  2. If actuator is okay, inspect brake cancel switch circuit. Disconnect switch and check for continuity between terminal 1 of harness side and body ground. If none, there is a severed wire in harness between brake cancel switch terminal 1 and actuator terminal 5.
  3. If continuity existed, check for continuity between terminal 1 on brake cancel switch and ground. If continuity, there is short in wire between them. If no continuity, inspect switch operation by testing for continuity between terminals 1 and 2. If none, inspect switch. If continuity exists, depress brake pedal. If no continuity, inspect switch.
  4. If still no continuity exists, disconnect computer and inspect connector on harness side by first inspecting the brake cancel switch circuit. Check for continuity between terminal 5 and ground. If none, there is a severed wire in harness between computer terminal 5 and brake cancel switch terminal 2.
  5. If there is continuity, depress brake pedal. If there is no continuity now, replace computer. If continuity, check for severed wire between 5 and 2 as above.
