Power Steering Pump
The power steering pump is a vane-type pump. Pump components include an engine-driven eccentric rotor with vane plates, an eccentric cam ring and flow control valve to regulate maximum oil pressure and amount of oil flow.
Vane plates (fitted in slotted grooves) are pressed against cam ring surface by pressure produced in adjoining slots. As rotor rotates, space between the rotor and cam ring changes, which produces oil pressure.
