Computer & Sensor
- Remove side kick panel. Unplug wiring connector from computer. Inspect computer at connector on wire harness side. With ignition switch in the "ON" position and using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between terminal 13 and body ground with the main switch in the "ON" position. See Fig 1. If there is no battery voltage, check the control switch.
- Start the engine. Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage between terminal 8 and body ground. When parking brake lever is pulled, voltage should be 0 volts. When parking brake lever is returned, voltage should be 12 volts.
- Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between terminal 11 and body ground. If battery voltage is not present, check the stop light switch.
- Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between terminal 12 and body ground. When brake pedal is depressed, voltage should be 12 volts. When brake pedal is returned, voltage should be 0 volts. If voltage is not correct, check the brake pedal switch.
- Turn ignition switch to "ACC" position. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity between terminal 9 and body ground. On manual transmission models, check with clutch pedal depressed. On automatic transmission models, check when shift lever is in neutral position. If there is no continuity, check clutch switch or neutral start switch by measuring the resistance between the terminals.
- Resistance between 6 and 10 should be approximately 71 ohms. Resistance between 4 and 10 should be approximately 38 ohms. If the resistance readings are not correct, check the actuator.
- Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity between terminal 3 and body ground when control switch is turned to "SET" position. If there is no continuity between terminals, check the control switch.
- Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity between terminal 7 and body ground when the control switch is turned to "SET" position. If there is no continuity between the terminals, check the control switch.NOTE: A break in step numbering sequence occurs at this point. Procedure skips from step 8) to step 10). No test procedures ~have been omitted.
- Use an ohmmeter to check the continuity between terminal 1 and body ground when the vehicle is slightly pushed forward. At this time, the ohmmeter needle should repeatedly move back and forth. If the ohmmeter needle does not deflect, check the speed sensor.
