Steering Column and Wheel - IP, SC, Upper Gap Hider Assembly - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  2. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Battery - Li-Ion - Disconnect And Connect .
  3. Remove the driver airbag. See FRONT AIR BAGS - DRIVER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  4. Remove the steering wheel. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING WHEEL - PUR LEATHER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  5. Remove the steering column upper shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, UPPER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  6. Remove the steering column lower shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, LOWER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  7. Remove the steering column control module. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE KOSTAL - REMOVE AND REPLACE 
  8. Remove the LH instrument panel end cap. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  9. Remove the driver footwell cover. See DASH PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL COVER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  10. Remove the lower instrument panel. See DASH PANEL - IP LOWER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  11. Remove the lower gap hider. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - IP, STEERING COLUMN, SHROUD LOWER SUB - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  12. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the upper gap hider to the steering column.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 6 in locking extension

  13. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the upper gap hider to the cross car beam.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 3 in extension
    • 13 mm socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
