Steering Column and Wheel - Electric Steering Column - LHD - Remove And Replace: Install
- Place the steering column into position for installation.
- Install the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.
18 N.m (13.3 lbs-ft)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 13 mm socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- With assistance, slide the steering column intermediate shaft downward and on the steering gear input shaft, making sure the shaft is aligned and fully seated.
- Install the bolt that attaches the steering column intermediate shaft to the steering gear input shaft.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Install the steering column boot on the bulkhead, as shown.
- Connect the IP harness electrical connector to the steering column.
- Install the steering wheel upper gap hider. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - IP, SC, UPPER GAP HIDER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the steering wheel lower gap hider. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - IP, STEERING COLUMN, SHROUD LOWER SUB - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the IP carrier assembly. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
- Install the center dash speaker. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE 100 MM, CENTER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the LH and RH dash speakers. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the IP speaker grille. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - IP WRAPPED AROUND ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the touchscreen. See TOUCHSCREEN - CENTER DISPLAY ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE
- Install the IP service panel. See INFOTAINMENT - TOUCHSCREEN - INSTRUMENT PANEL - SERVICE PANEL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the steering column control module. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE KOSTAL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the steering wheel lower shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, LOWER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the steering wheel upper shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, UPPER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the steering wheel. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING WHEEL - PUR LEATHER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the driver airbag. See FRONT AIR BAGS - DRIVER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the lower instrument panel. See DASH PANEL - IP LOWER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the driver footwell cover. See DASH PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL COVER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the RH air wave duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, AIR, WAVE, DUCT, RH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the RH passenger footwell duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, PASSENGER FOOTWELL DUCT - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the glove box. See DASH PANEL - GLOVE BOX WITH USB ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the passenger footwell cover. See DASH PANEL - PASSENGER FOOTWELL COVER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - A - PILLAR UPPER ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the LH and RH IP end caps. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Connect LV power. See LV Battery - Li-Ion - Disconnect And Connect .
- Unlock the gateway. See GATEWAY UNLOCK .
- On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Chassis > Steering > Calibrate Steering Column and select Run to start the "Steering Column Calibration Routine".
- Install the underhood storage unit. See EXTERIOR FITTINGS - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM - FRONT LUGGAGE STORAGE COMPARTMENT - FRUNK ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the cabin intake duct. See CABIN HVAC - HVAC, FRESH AIR GUTTER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
