Module - Body Controller - Security (2nd Generation) - Remove And Replace: Install

  1. Position the security controller onto the center console cup holder decor, and then install the screws (x2) that attach the security controller to the cup holder decor.

    1.6 N.m (1.2 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Wiha in bit holder adapter
    • Torx T20 socket
    • Wiha TorqueVario-S 0.8 N.m - 2.0 N.m screwdriver (installation only)

  2. Connect the security controller electrical connector, and then install the clips (x6) that attach the cup holder decor to the center console assembly.

  3. Install the center console brightwork (2.0). See Brightwork - Center Console (2.0) - Remove and Replace .
  4. Connect the 12V/LV power. See 12 V/LV POWER (DISCONNECT AND CONNECT)
  5. Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD APRON - REAR (REMOVE AND REPLACE)
  6. Move the front seats back to their original positions.
  7. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 - Connect and Disconnect .
  8. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag  tab, type "Service_Redeploy" into the search field, click UPDATE_SERVICE-REDEPLOY, click Run  , and allow the routine to complete.
    NOTE:

    Once the firmware redeploy is completed, verify on the center display whether the release notes are present. If the redeploy fails, you may receive an error message on the UI.

  9. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag  tab, and then type "VCSEC".
  10. For vehicles running firmware versions 2023.44 upto, but not including, 2024.8, select PROC_VCSEC_X_SET-ROOT-KEY-TO-ALL-REGIONS, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.
  11. Select PROC_VCSEC_X_POST-REPLACEMENT-ROUTINE, and then click Run  and allow the routine to complete.
  12. Select PROC_VCSEC_C_PAIR-NFC-CARD-V2, and then click Run  and allow the routine to complete.
  13. Place the NFC card(s) on the NFC card reader in the center console.
  14. Input the number of keys to be paired to vehicle and select "Run Network".
  15. Check the function of the programmed NFC keys.
  16. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  17. Inform the customer that the new security body controller will not recognize any previously paired phone key. The customer must delete and re-pair their phone key to the vehicle, if they were previously using this feature. Instructions are available in the Owners Manual, and at the DIY web pages.
