Steering Column - Remove And Replace: Install
- Transfer the lower steering column shroud datum to the new steering column.
- Install the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the IP carrier.
15 N.m (11.1 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NOTE: Guide the lower steering shaft down through the bulkhead. - Connect the steering column electrical harness connector, and then secure the harness with clip.
- Secure the steering intermediate shaft dash boot.NOTE: Ensure the boot is flush with the dash panel.
- Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
- Slide the lower steering column shaft onto the steering rack, and then secure it with bolt.
30 N.m (22.1 ft-lbs)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- Install the front skidplate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
- Install the lower instrument panel. See Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the steering column control module. See MODULE - STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Install the steering column lower shroud. See SHROUD - LOWER - STEERING COLUMN (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Install the steering column upper shroud. See Shroud - Upper - Steering Column (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the driver knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the LH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the driver floor mat.
- Install the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove And Replace) .
- Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the front passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the front passenger floor mat.
- Install the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace) .
- Fasten the tabs (x4) that attach the IP closeout panel.
- Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace) .
- Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- Restore the front passenger seat back to its original position.
- Calibrate the RH rear door by holding the upper B-pillar button in the down position.
- Install the LH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the LH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Install the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Restore the driver seat back to its original position.
- Calibrate the LH rear door by holding the upper B-pillar button in the down position.
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to be vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect) .
- In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for STEERING .
- Click STEERING COLUMN CALIBRATION
, and then click Run
. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.NOTE: Click X at top right of the window to close once complete.NOTE: Steering column will run through the full range of motion up/down and in/out during calibration.
- Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from be vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect) .
- Adjust the steering column back to its original position.
- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
- Raise the LH and RH front windows.
- Close the LH front door.
