Steering Controller - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD APRON - REAR (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
  2. Disconnect 12 V power. See 12 V/LV POWER (DISCONNECT AND CONNECT) .
  3. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
  4. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness from the connector.

  5. Release the clips that attach the horn assembly, and then move the horn assembly to the side.

  6. Remove the screws (x4) that attach the bright surround to the steering wheel, and then remove the surround.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • T20 socket

  7. Disconnect the electrical harness from the steering wheel controls ECU connector.

  8. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the steering wheel controls ECU to the bright surround, and then remove the ECU from the surround.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • T10 Torx bit
