ABS Modulator - Remove And Replace: Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle. See RAISE VEHICLE - 2 POST LIFT .
- Using a steering wheel holder, lock the steering wheel into position.CAUTION: Protect the seat from damage.
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace) .
- Disconnect 12 V power. See 12 V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
- Remove the 12 V auxiliary battery. See 12 V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the bolts that attach the LH and RH sides of the shock tower brace.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 15 mm deep socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Position the shock tower brace assembly aside to gain clearance for removal of the battery bracket.
- Remove all the wheels. See Wheel (Remove and Install) .
- Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) - Remove And Replace .
- Remove the bolt that attaches the steering gear assembly to the intermediate shaft assembly.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
- Slide the electric steering column upward to remove it from the steering gear assembly.
- Partially lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the ABS modulator.
- Place an oil drain container beneath the ABS modulator.
- Remove the RH front brake line pipe nut from the ABS modulator.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm flare nut wrench
- 12 mm flare nut crowfoot socket
- Remove the LH rear brake line pipe nut from the ABS modulator.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm flare nut wrench
- 12 mm flare nut crowfoot socket
- Remove the RH rear brake line pipe nut from the ABS modulator.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm flare nut wrench
- 12 mm flare nut crowfoot socket
- Remove the LH front brake line pipe nut from the modulator.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm flare nut wrench
- 12 mm flare nut crowfoot socket
- Remove the master cylinder secondary pipe nut from the ABS modulator.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm flare nut wrench
- 12 mm flare nut crowfoot socket
- 6 in extension
- Remove the master cylinder primary pipe nut from the ABS modulator.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm flare nut wrench
- 12 mm flare nut crowfoot socket
- 6 in extension
- Remove the master cylinder brake lines from the 4 tube bundle clip.
- Remove the RH front brake line from the front brake line bundle clip around the LH front rail area.
- Move the brake lines away from the ABS modulator.
- Release the master cylinder brake lines from the clip at the rear of the ABS modulator bracket.
- Remove the oil drain container from beneath the vehicle.
- Raise the vehicle fully.
- Remove the bolts that attach the ABS modulator to the frame rail.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- 6 in extension
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Release the tabs (x2) that attach the ABS modulator to the body, slide the ABS modulator towards the 12 V battery area, and then remove the ABS modulator from the vehicle.
- Loosen the nuts that attach the ABS modulator to the bracket, and then pry the ABS modulator from the bracket.
Tip:
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
- 2 in extension
