Steering Yoke/Wheel - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Steering  , and then use the left steering wheel scroll wheel to adjust steering column fully forward, and middle height level.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
  4. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
  5. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the steering yoke/wheel.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in

  7. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the steering yoke/wheel to the steering column.

    80 N.m (59.0 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 3 in extension
    • 10 mm hex (H10 bit) socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

  8. Remove the steering yoke/wheel from the steering column splines.
