Steering Column - Remove And Replace: Remove
- Remove the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
- Remove the phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the IP service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the IP decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace) .
- Release the clips (x4) that attach the IP closeout panel to the vehicle.
- Remove the LH IP trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove RH IP trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the RH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the RH knee air bag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the LH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the LH knee air bag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the steering yoke. See STEERING YOKE/WHEEL (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Remove the gap hider. See Gap Hider - Steering Column - Upper (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the lower steering column shroud. See SHROUD - LOWER - STEERING COLUMN (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the steering column control module (SCCM).NOTE: Remove the retaining clip on the connector and release connector, then remove the remaining broken clip from connector. Discard the retaining clip after removal. The original installed retaining clip is black and the replacement clip is orange.
- Remove the bolt that attaches the SCCM to the steering column.CAUTION: Carefully slide the module away from the steering column without rotating the module.
- Remove the lower instrument panel assembly. See Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace) .
- Raise the vehicle fully.
- Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the front skidplate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace) .
- Remove the bolt that attaches the steering gear to the steering column.
- Slide the steering column upward to remove it from the steering gear assembly.
- Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the steering column.
- Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the upper steering column to the IP carrier.
- With the help of an assistant, remove the steering column from the vehicle.
