E-Fuse Module (1st Generation) - Remove And Replace: Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2020 Tesla Model S, 2019 Tesla Model S, 2018 Tesla Model S, 2017 Tesla Model S, and 2016 Tesla Model S. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

This procedure is for vehicles built through April 24, 2019. For vehicles built after April 24, 2019, see E-FUSE MODULE (2ND GENERATION) (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .

Disconnect 12V power. See DISCONNECT 12V POWER .
Remove the HEPA filter outlet. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the underhood fusebox. See FUSEBOX - UNDERHOOD - 2ND GENERATION (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
Remove the clips (x4) that attach LH shock tower cover, and then remove the cover.
Remove the clips (x4) that attach RH shock tower cover, and then remove the cover.
Remove the bolts (x6) and the clip that attach the LH shock tower brace to the body, and then remove the brace from the vehicle.

Remove the bolts (x8) and the clip that attach the RH shock tower brace to the body, and then remove the brace from the vehicle.

Remove the wiper motor assembly. See Wiper Motor Assembly (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the screws (x2) that attach the air suspension reservoir brackets to the body.
Move the air suspension reservoir aside for access.
Remove the nut that attaches the E-fuse module to the battery coolant heater bracket.

Remove the bolt that attaches the DCDC cover to the E-fuse module, and then remove the cover.

Remove and discard the bolt that attaches DCDC positive cable to the E-fuse module.

Lift the E-fuse module to access the front of the E-fuse module.
CAUTION: Make sure not to dislodge nearby refrigerant lines.

NOTE: The E-fuse module is lifted for access.
Remove the screws (x3) that attach the cover to the E-fuse module, and then remove the cover.
Tip: The screws are not identical. Note the location for each screw.

Release the tabs (x2), and then remove the side cover from the RH side of the E-fuse module.

Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the large cables to the bottom of the E-fuse module.
Tip: Note the location of the labeled wires during removal.
