Car Computer (Info-Ryzen) - Remove and Install: Remove

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2023 Tesla Model 3, 2022 Tesla Model 3, 2021 Tesla Model 3, 2020 Tesla Model 3, and 2019 Tesla Model 3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Open LH front door.
  2. Lower all four windows.
  3. Enable Service Mode. See: SERVICE MODE .
  4. Remove cabin intake upper duct assembly.
    NOTE: 4x clips. Heat pump vehicles have 3x clips.

  5. Remove fresh air intake assembly.
    NOTE: 2x studs. Maneuver between cowl and frunk.

  6. Open RH front door.
  7. Move RH front seat backward.
  8. Disconnect LV power. See: 12V/LV POWER - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  9. Remove the glovebox, front passenger knee airbag, front passenger footwell air duct, and front passenger IP air wave duct. See: DUCT - AIR WAVE - RH (LHD) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  10. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH front main carpet to the footwell.

  11. Release the electrical harness from the 2x clips on the RH front main carpet, and then fold the carpet back.

  12. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the RH carpet locator bracket to the footwell, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.

    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft) 

    NOTE: Newer vehicles might use clips instead of nuts.

  13. Place absorbent material beneath car computer to catch any spilled coolant

  14. Remove the underhood storage unit. See: UNDERHOOD STORAGE UNIT - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  15. Place absorbent material below car computer coolant hose connection points to collect any spilled coolant.

  16. Disconnect inner coolant hose to car computer mount.
    NOTE: 1x spring clip. Plug hose.

  17. Disconnect outer coolant hose to car computer mount and remove coolant from car computer.
    NOTE: 1x spring clip. Plug hose.

  18. Install car computer coolant plug.

  19. Remove nuts securing car computer to bulkhead.
    NOTE: 4x nyloc nuts (newer vehicles have 6x nyloc nuts), 13mm, 7.1 Nm. If necessary, keep two nuts threaded to hold car computer in place. Discard nuts after removal

  20. Perform the following steps for vehicles with a larger car computer visor:
    NOTE: The larger visor interferes with the front passenger airbag.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x3 for North America, x2 for other regions) for the front passenger airbag (Figure A).
    2. Remove and discard the patch bolts (x4) that attach the front passenger airbag to the cross car beam (Figure B).

    8 N.m (5.9 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Torx T30 socket or External Torx E10
    NOTE:

  21. Wear an ESD wrist strap and connect the strap to vehicle ground.
  22. Release ground strap from car computer.
    NOTE: 1x bolt, T25, 1x nut, 8mm, 3.5 Nm, Nut located on backside, Discard nut after removal

  23. Disconnect connectors on front side of car computer.
    NOTE: 3x connectors. If equipped, release locking tab, then remove connector body.
    NOTE: Connector location might be different depending on car computer version

  24. Release the car computer from the bulkhead.
    NOTE: With right hand on top of car computer and left hand under car computer, use back of right hand to help push air bag assembly up and towards back of vehicle. Take care to not damage air bag connections or wiring harnesses
  25. Remove car computer visor.
    NOTE: 4x clips.

  26. Release harness connectors on LH side of car computer.
    NOTE: 10x connectors. If equipped, release locking tab, then remove connector body. Connector count might vary depending on car computer version

  27. Release harness guide clip.
    NOTE: 1x clip. Pinch release tabs with needle nose pliers.

  29. Release connectors from RH side of car computer and remove from vehicle.

  1. Remove clips securing RH footwell assembly.
    NOTE: 4x push clips.

  2. Disconnect RH foot well assembly connectors and remove from vehicle.
    NOTE: 2x electrical connectors.

  3. Remove bolts securing passenger knee air bag onto vehicle.
    NOTE: 4x patch bolts, T30, 8 N.m (5.9 ft-lbs.). Discard after removal, 2x screws, T20, 2 N.m (1.47 ft-lbs.), 1x push clip. Newer vehicles have 4x E10 patch bolts.

  4. Remove the passenger knee air bag from vehicle.
    NOTE: 1x connector. Release locking tab. Connector release may vary.

  5. Disconnect glove box USB cable from car computer.
    NOTE: 1x connector. Depress latch on top of USB cable to release internal latches, then release from car computer

  6. Remove clip securing passenger footwell air duct and rotate for access.
    NOTE: 1x push clip. With glovebox installed there is not sufficient room to fully remove passenger footwell duct.
