Shaft - Steering Column - Intermediate Upper (RHD) - Remove And Replace: Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

  1. Transfer the steering dash seal onto the new upper intermediate shaft.
  2. When using toolbox 3, go to step  6.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 2.0 to the vehicle.
  4. In Toolbox, select Panels > Steering > Power Steering (EPAS) Control  . Click the Start/Play  button and follow the onscreen instructions.
    NOTE: After calibrating EPAS, drive the vehicle for a minimum of 5 minutes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
  5. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle and go to step  10.
  6. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 (CONNECT AND DISCONNECT) .
  7. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See GATEWAY UNLOCK .
  8. Calibrate the steering rack, using Toolbox 3:
    NOTE: Steering rack calibration is only required if the vehicle is equipped with a Bosch type steering rack.
    1. Select the Actions  tab and search for "Bosch EPAS Calibration".
    2. Select the ODIN routine PROC_EPAS_X_CALIBRATION  , and then click the link of the routine.
    3. Click RUN  , and allow the routine to complete.
      NOTE: After calibrating EPAS, drive the vehicle for a minimum of 5 minutes before returning the vehicle to the customer.
  9. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  10. Perform a Lock To Lock-Angle test. See Lock To Lock-Angle Test .
