Drive Unit - Front (2nd Generation) - Remove And Replace: Install
- Put the new front drive unit underneath the gantry.
- On the new front drive unit, remove the fir tree clips (x2) that attach the front drive unit harness to the A/C compressor isolator mount.
- On the new front drive unit, remove the bolts (x3) that attach the A/C compressor isolator mount to the front drive unit, and then remove the mount.
- Attach the sling tool to the new front drive unit.NOTE: The new front drive unit comes filled with EDF2 fluid.NOTE: Follow the mounting points as indicated for the Model 3 rear drive unit.
- Secure the sling tool to the gantry, and then raise the new front drive unit out of the crate.
- Move the front drive unit stand and underhoist stand under the new front drive unit, and then lower the sling tool to put the new front drive unit onto the front drive unit stand adapter.
- Remove the sling tool from the gantry, and then remove the hooks (x3) that attach the sling tool to the new front drive unit.
- If the new front drive unit comes with a clevis mount, remove the bolts (x2) that attach the clevis mount to the front drive unit, and then remove the clevis mount from the front drive unit. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
- If the new front drive unit comes with an isolator mount, remove the bolts (x3) that attach the isolator mount to the front drive unit, and then remove the isolator mount from the front drive unit. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
- Remove the bolt that attaches the HV harness to the new front drive unit.
- Disconnect the HV harness from the new front drive unit, and then remove the HV harness from the front drive unit.
- Put the new front drive unit under the vehicle for installation.
- Install the new front drive unit in the vehicle. See DRIVE UNIT - FRONT (2ND GENERATION) (REMOVE AND INSTALL) .NOTE: After connecting 12V power, perform a software reinstall. See FIRMWARE REINSTALL - TOUCHSCREEN .
- For China, Japan and Korea only: Carefully remove the old motor label from the hood, and install a new motor label to match the new motor information.
