Mount - Front Drive Unit - LH (1st Generation) - Remove And Replace: Installation
- Loosen the bolts that secure the 2 sections of the LH motor mount.
- Set the new motor mount into position.
- Secure the 3 bolts that secure the motor to the LH motor mount (torque 38 N.m).
- Secure the 2 bolts that secure the LH side motor mount to the side rail (torque 65 N.m).
- Position the 3 shim tools between the RH motor mount and body.NOTE: These tools ensure proper clearance. Leave them in place until prompted to remove.
1 2-pronged shim tool 2 Hook shim tool 3 Straight shim tool - Working from the underhood area, position the 2-pronged shim around the RH motor mount front bushing.
- Reach beneath the motor and position the hook shim tool between the mount and outer bushing.
- Reach downward between the V-brace and cross brace and position the straight shim tool between the mount and inner bushing.
- Working from the underhood area, position the 2-pronged shim around the RH motor mount front bushing.
- Tighten the 2 bolts that secure the 2 parts of the LH motor mount together (torque 50 N.m).
- Remove the shim tools.
- Repeat step 5 to reposition the shim tools to ensure that the motor did not shift.
- If all 3 shim tools can be easily installed and removed, continue to the next step in this procedure.
- If the shim tools can not be easily installed and removed, adjust the LH side motor mount, refer to MOUNT - FRONT DRIVE UNIT - LH (1ST GENERATION) (ADJUST) .
- Reinstall all components that were removed for access.
