Steering Rack (RHD RWD) (2nd Generation) - Remove And Replace: Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

CAUTION: Replace all nylon-insert locknuts.

CAUTION: Replace all patchbolt(s).

Ensure that the lower intermediate shaft to pinion markings align correctly.
When reinstalling the bolts that secure the steering rack to the subframe, follow this sequence:
1. Tighten each LH bolt to 30 N.m.
2. Tighten the RH bolt to 30 N.m.
3. Fully torque the LH bolts to 175 N.m.
4. Fully torque the RH bolt to 175 N.m.
Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen .
Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 - CONNECT AND DISCONNECT
Perform a Lock To Lock-Angle test. SeeLock To Lock - Angle Test .
Unlock the vehicle gateway. See GATEWAY UNLOCK
Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 - CONNECT AND DISCONNECT
Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine if an alignment check (AC) or full adjustment (FA) is necessary. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension .
