Actuator - Pedestrian Protection - LH - 2nd Generation - Remove And Replace: Removal

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
  3. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  4. Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace) .
  5. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace) .
  6. Disconnect the First Responder Loop and 12V battery negative terminal.
    NOTE: Proceed to the next step only when the First Responder Loop has been disconnected for at least 2 minutes.
  7. Remove the nuts that attach the LH and RH wiper arms to the vehicle (torque 35 N.m), and then remove the wiper arms from the vehicle.
  8. Release the clips that attach the LH and RH shock tower covers to the vehicle, and then remove the shock tower covers from the vehicle.
    NOTE: The shock tower cover may have 3 or 4 clips.

  9. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace) .
  10. Fold the fender liner downwards to gain access to the LH pedestrian protection actuator electrical connector.

  11. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the LH pedestrian protection actuator.

  12. Release the clip that attaches the LH pedestrian protection actuator electrical connector to the body.

  13. Remove the bolts that attach the LH pedestrian protection actuator to the body (torque 8 N.m), and then remove the actuator from the vehicle.
