Inverter Air Leak Test - Front Drive Unit: Procedure

  1. Remove the front drive unit, refer to DRIVE UNIT - FRONT (1ST GENERATION) (REMOVE AND INSTALL) .
  2. Remove the coolant hoses from the front drive unit.

  3. Remove the acoustic cover from the inverter.
  4. Remove the bolt that attaches the inverter breather cover to the inverter, and then remove the cover from the inverter (torque 6 N.m)

  5. Remove and discard the breather from the inverter.
  6. Insert the breather plug into the inverter breather hole.

  7. Insert the logic plug into the inverter low voltage connector.

  8. Insert the HV input plug and HV input adapter into the inverter HV connectors.

  9. Connect the pack enclosure leak tester to the HV input adapter.
  10. Close both valves on the pack enclosure leak tester, and then connect a compressed air supply line.
  11. Fully close the regulator, and then open the inlet valve.
  12. Set the regulator to 1 psi.
  13. Open the outlet valve, and allow at least 1 minute for the pressure to stabilize to 1 psi.
  14. Close the inlet valve, record the starting pressure displayed, and then start a 60-second timer.
  15. After 60 seconds record the ending pressure displayed.
  16. Subtract the ending pressure from the starting pressure, and if:
    • The difference is greater than 0.2 psi, check the hose, adapter, and plug fittings, close the outlet valve and open the inlet valve, check the regulator pressure, and then retest from step 12. If the difference is still greater than 0.2 psi, escalate a Toolbox session.
    • The difference is 0.2 psi or less, continue the procedure.
  17. Disconnect the air supply from the pack enclosure leak tester.
  18. Open the inlet valve, and then disconnect the pack enclosure leak tester from the HV input adapter on the lower inverter HV connector.
  19. Remove the HV input plug and HV input adapter from the inverter HV connectors.

  20. Remove the logic plug from the inverter low voltage connector.

  21. Remove the breather plug from the breather hole.

  22. Install a new breather into the inverter breather hole.
  23. Install the inverter breather cover onto the inverter, and then install the bolt that attaches the cover to the inverter (torque 5 N.m).

  24. Install the acoustic cover over the inverter.
  25. Install the coolant hoses to the front drive unit.

  26. Install the front drive unit, refer to DRIVE UNIT - FRONT (1ST GENERATION) (REMOVE AND INSTALL) .
