SIM Card (Car Computer) - Remove & Replace: Install

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 Tesla Model X, 2023 Tesla Model X, 2022 Tesla Model X, and 2021 Tesla Model X. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the new SIM card into the car computer slot with the notch up and the gold pads facing away from the bulkhead.
    NOTE: If installing a non-Tesla SIM card, refer to Toolbox article 10088 for additional requirements. Additionally, customer must complete form SC-15-21-001.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the SIM card goes into the slot, before releasing your grip of the SIM card.

  2. Carefully press the SIM card fully into the slot, so that the catch engages.
    CAUTION: If using a thin tool to press the SIM card in, use the tool as shown.

  3. Install the front passenger footrest panel. See Panel - Footrest - Front Passenger (LHD) (Remove and Install) .
  4. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) .
  5. Calibrate the rear falcon wing doors.
    NOTE: Hold the upper B-pillar button in the down position to manually calibrate. The doors must be calibrated and closed for the firmware to pass.

  6. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Infotainment > Connectivity  , and then confirm the 4G connection is OK.

  7. Disable WiFi and confirm the web browser can load page.

  8. Exit Service mode. See Service Mode (Enable And Disable) .
  9. Raise both front windows and close both front doors.
