Drive Unit - Rear - Large - Remove And Replace: Installation

NOTE: Perform the Installation  section of "DRIVE UNIT - REAR - LARGE (REMOVE AND INSTALL) ".
  1. Refill the gearbox fluid.
  2. Inspect any components to be reused for wear or damage before transferring them to the new drive unit. Replace any damaged components.
  3. Install a 12V charger to the 12V battery.
    NOTE: The vehicle 12V system must remain supported until the vehicle firmware reinstall/update is completed.
  4. Reinstall the latest vehicle firmware, or update the firmware if not the latest. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen or Firmware Update .
  5. Connect a laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle, and then use Toolbox 3 to locally connect to the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 - CONNECT AND DISCONNECT
  6. Unlock the vehicle gateway for diagnostic communication. See GATEWAY UNLOCK .
  7. Using Toolbox 3:
    1. Select the Actions  tab and search for "immobilizer reset".
    2. Select the ODIN routine PROC_DI_X_IMMOBILIZER-RESET, and then click the link of the routine.
    3. Click RUN  , and allow the routine to complete.
      NOTE: This step is not necessary for vehicles in North America.
  8. After the routine completes, disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
