DTC P0717 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Step Action YES NO
Was "CVT System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to CVT SYSTEM CHECK .
Primary pulley speed sensor power supply circuit check
  1. Turn off ignition switch and disconnect connector from primary pulley speed sensor.
  2. Check for proper terminal connection to primary pulley speed sensor connector.
  3. If connections are OK, turn ignition switch to ON position.
  4. Check that primary pulley speed sensor power supply circuit (A1) is battery voltage.

Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 3. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
Primary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and ground circuit check
  1. Turn off ignition switch and disconnect connectors from TCM.
  2. Check for proper terminal connection to TCM connectors.
  3. If connections are OK, check that primary pulley speed sensor signal circuit (A2) and sensor ground circuit (B1) are as follows.
    • Wiring harness resistance of primary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit is less than 1 Ω.
    • Insulation resistance between primary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
    • Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between primary pulley speed sensor signal circuit terminal and each terminal at primary pulley speed sensor connector.
    • Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between primary pulley speed sensor ground circuit terminal and each terminal at primary pulley speed sensor connector.
    • Circuit voltage of primary pulley speed sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 4. Repair or replace defective wire harness.
Primary pulley speed sensor check
  1. Check primary pulley speed sensor. See Primary Pulley Speed Sensor and Secondary Pulley Speed Sensor Inspection

Is it in good condition?
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck. Replace primary pulley speed sensor. See Primary Pulley Speed Sensor Removal and Installation
