Gear Select Control Cable Adjustment

Remove center console box, see CENTER CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Remove battery, battery tray with ECM and battery bracket, see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Move gear shift control lever (1) in neutral position of 5th - 6th gear side.
Hold gear shift control lever at the position in step 3) using the following pin (2).
Size of pin for gear shift control lever holding

Outside diameter: 3.0 - 3.4 mm (0.12 - 0.13 in.)

Length: More than 70 mm (2.8 in.)

Insert special tool between shift cable lever (1) and guide case (2).

Shift gear shift control lever to 5th or 6th position.
Release lock plate (1) which restricts moving of cable end holder (2).
Push out cable end holder from adjuster (4) using appropriate tool (3) to disengage cable.

Apply grease to pin (5) of gear shift control lever, and then install adjuster (1) into pin of gear shift control lever securely.
"A": Grease 99000-25011 (SUZUKI Super Grease A)
Push cable end holder (2) in the direction of [a].
NOTE: At this time, do not apply force to adjuster and cable end in the direction of [b].
Slide lock plate (3) in the direction of [c], until it is locked with the claw (4) of cable end holder.

Remove special tool from between shift cable lever and guide case.
Remove gear shift control lever holding pin from gear shift control lever assembly.
Install battery bracket, battery tray with ECM and battery, see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Install center console box, see CENTER CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
