Reference Vacuum Pressure (Reference Orifice Vacuum) Check

  1. With the conditions the same as during the "Initial (barometric) check", operate EVAP leak detection pump. If you have SUZUKI scan tool, perform the step a). If not, perform the step  b).
    1. Method using SUZUKI scan tool:
      1. With ignition mode of keyless push start system in "OFF", connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC (1).
      2. Push engine switch to change ignition mode of keyless push start system to "ON".
      3. Select "Active Test" mode on SUZUKI scan tool.
      4. Use SUZUKI scan too to close EVAP leak detection pump in EVAP leak check module.

      5. Check that pressure sensor output voltage (reference orifice vacuum) becomes lower than pressure sensor output voltage of "Initial (barometric) pressure check" by approximately 0.1 V.

If sensor output voltage is out of specification, replace EVAP leak check module and EVAP canister as assembly.

    2. b) Method without using SUZUKI scan tool:
      1. With ignition mode of keyless push start system in "OFF", disconnect ECM connectors from ECM and connect special tool to the connectors disconnected. For connecting procedure, refer to Step 1) and 2) of "Voltage Check" under INSPECTION OF ECM AND ITS CIRCUITS .
      2. Insert 3 new 1.5 V batteries (1) in series and connect positive terminal to "E01-40" terminal of ECM connector and negative terminal to "E01-38" terminal of ECM connector.
      3. Operate EVAP leak detection pump by connecting both positive terminal of the 12 V battery to "E01-58" terminal and negative terminal to vehicle body.
      4. Check EVAP leak check pressure sensor output voltage (barometric pressure signal voltage) between "E01-8" terminal and negative terminal until it becomes lower than pressure sensor output voltage of "Initial (barometric) pressure check" by approximately 0.1 V.

If sensor output voltage is out of specification, replace EVAP leak check module and EVAP canister as assembly.
