Power Balance Test
WARNING:
When performing the following procedure, be sure to observe Precautions on Fuel System Service and PRECAUTIONS FOR ENGINE
in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury.
CAUTION:
The engine could be damaged if it is accelerated to a high RPM with an injector connector disconnected. Always perform power balance test with engine running at an idle speed.
NOTE:
For identification of each cylinder, refer to PRECAUTIONS FOR IDENTIFICATION OF CYLINDER
.
- For CVT model, place select lever in "P" and apply parking brake.
For M/T model, place gear shift lever in "Neutral" and apply parking brake.
- Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
- Remove engine cover. See AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Disconnect fuel injector connector (1) for cylinder No. 1.
- Check that engine speed decreases from specified idle speed.
- Repeat Step 4) and Step 5) for all cylinders, compare rates of engine speed decrease.
- If rates of engine speed decrease are not in scale, check the following items.
- Fuel injector circuit see Fuel Injector Circuit Check
- Fuel injector see Fuel Injector Inspection
- Spark plug see SPARK PLUG INSPECTION
- Ignition coil circuit see IGNITION SYSTEM CHECK
- Ignition coil see IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY INSPECTION
- Clear DTC. See DTC CLEARANCE
- Install engine cover. See AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
