Gear Select Control Cable Adjustment

  1. Remove console box. See CONSOLE BOX COMPONENTS .
  2. Remove battery and battery tray with ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Move gear shift control lever (1) in neutral position of 5th - 6th gear side.
  4. Fix gear shift control lever (1) using gear shift control lever fixing pin (2).
    NOTE: Use the following pin for gear shift control lever fixing pin.
    Outside diameter: 3.0 - 3.4 mm (0.12 - 0.13 in.)
    Length: More than 70 mm (2.8 in.)

  5. Insert special tool between shift cable lever (1) and guide case (2).

    Special Tool 

    1. 09928-45710

  6. Release lock plate (1) which restricts moving of cable end holder (2).
  7. Push cable end holder (2) out from adjuster (4) using appropriate tool (3) to disengage cable.

  8. Apply grease to pin (5) of gear shift control lever, and then install adjuster (1) into pin of gear shift control lever securely.

    "A": Grease 99000-25011 (SUZUKI Super Grease A) 

  9. Push cable end holder (2) in the direction of [a].
    NOTE: At this time, do not apply force in the cable operation direction [b] to adjuster.
  10. Slide lock plate (3) in the direction of [c], until it gets over the claw (4) of cable end holder.

  11. Remove special tool from between shift cable lever and guide case.
  12. Remove gear shift control lever fixing pin from gear shift control lever assembly.
  13. Install battery and battery tray with ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  14. Install console box. See CONSOLE BOX COMPONENTS .
