Transfer Assembly: Removal and Installation: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Switch 4WD shift switch to 2WD and set transfer assembly to 2WD.
- Remove the undercovers using power tool.
- Remove the center exhaust tube and main muffler. Refer to [EXHAUST SYSTEM: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ]
- Remove the front and rear propeller shafts. Refer to [PROPELLER SHAFT: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
] (front), [PROPELLER SHAFT: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
] (2S1330) or [REAR PROPELLER SHAFT: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
] (3S1330-2BJ100).CAUTION: Do not damage spline, sleeve yoke and rear oil seal when removing rear propeller shaft.NOTE: Cap or plug opening(s) to prevent fluid from spilling.
- Remove insulator nuts from the transmission crossmember. Refer to [TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION FROM VEHICLE ] (M/T) or [TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION FOR VQ40DE 4WD MODELS ] (A/T).
- Position two suitable jacks under the transmission and transfer assembly.
- Remove the transmission crossmember. Refer to [TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION FROM VEHICLE
] (M/T) or [TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION FOR VQ40DE 4WD MODELS
] (A/T).WARNING: Support transmission and transfer assembly using two suitable jacks while removing transmission crossmember.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the following:
- ATP switch
- 4LO switch
- Wait detection switch
- Transfer control device
- Remove wire harness from retainers.
- Disconnect each air breather hose from the following. Refer to [Air Breather Hose: Removal and Installation ]
- Transfer control device
- Breather tube (transfer)
- Remove the transfer to A/T and A/T to transfer bolts.WARNING: Support transfer assembly with suitable jack while removing it.
- Remove the transfer assembly.CAUTION: Do not damage transmission rear oil seal (A/T).
