Monitor Strategy Description

The aim of this function is to make a general diagnosis of the entire acquisition chain of the knock signal: knock sensor in association with knock IC device.
- secondly a relative test between instantaneous value of basic knock signal and its mean value (test of scattering on the acquisition signal) Indeed, the knock sensor signal dispersion is lower in case of failure (knock sensor disconnected, short circuit to ground or to battery) than in normal functioning thus, a test is performed comparing the knock sensor dispersion to a threshold. These two first tests determine the correct functioning of the knock sensor. They are done on only one cylinder per knock sensor.
