DTC Troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .
Signal voltage check
  1. Disconnect connectors from ECM with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Remove ECM from vehicle body referring to ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and then connect connectors to ECM.
  3. Start engine and then check voltage between terminal "G04-21" terminal of ECM connector and body ground with ignition switch ON.

Does voltage repeat 0 - 1.5 V and 10 - 14 V?
Intermittent trouble or faulty ECM or TCM.
Check for intermittent trouble referring to INTERMITTENT AND POOR CONNECTION INSPECTION .
Go to Step 3.
Signal circuit check
  1. Disconnect connectors from TCM with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Disconnect connector from ECM.
  3. Measure resistance between "G04-21" terminal of ECM connector and vehicle body ground.

Is resistance infinity?
Go to Step 4. "GRN/YEL" wire shorted to ground or other circuit.
Signal circuit check
  1. Turn ON ignition switch.
  2. Measure voltage between "G04-21" terminal of ECM connector and vehicle body ground.

Is voltage 0 V?
Go to Step 5. "GRN/YEL" wire shorted to power supply or other circuit.
Signal circuit check
  1. Measure resistance between "G04-21" terminal of ECM connector and "G07-27" terminal of TCM connector.

Is resistance below 3 ohm?
Go to Step 6. Open or high resistance wire in "GRN/YEL" circuit.
Signal circuit check
  1. Connect connectors to ECM with ignition switch turned OFF.
  2. Measure voltage between "G04-21" terminal of ECM connector and vehicle body ground.

Dose voltage repeat 0 - 1.5 and 10 - 14 V?
Faulty TCM.
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck.
Faulty ECM.
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
